We’re excited to introduce a new process for helping employees achieve a properly fitted workstation.
Previously, an employee would submit an Ergonomic Evaluation Request though the SCCSIG website. The request would then go into a queue until the evaluation could be scheduled. And though this process did include a self-evaluation form, it was not comprehensive in its design to facilitate a quick resolution to the request.

Starting February 1, 2024, employees will be using a more complete and thorough Ergonomic Evaluation Self-Assessment Tool in an effort to identify common workstation issues that can be corrected immediately – eliminating the need and wait for someone to visit the employee in most cases.

Completing the Ergonomic Evaluation Self-Assessment may take approximately 15 minutes to complete, and it’s easy to get started:

  1. Click the District Specific Link to Access Tool (Links are listed below for each district)
  2. Complete the Ergonomic Self-Assessment Tool
  3. Review Recommendations
  4. Make Adjustments

The Self-Assessment Tool will take the user through a series of questions specific to the workstation. These include:

  • Office Chair
  • Keyboard/Mouse
  • Monitor
  • Work Surface/Accessories
  • Wellness/Safety

The majority of issues an employee faces with their workstation can be corrected by utilizing the recommendations received in this new Self-Assessment Tool.

A report summarizing the assessment, including recommendations, will be emailed to the employee’s district representative. In some cases, an on-site ergonomic evaluation may be needed. If the employee has completed the self-assessment, made the suggested adjustments, and is still in need of assistance, i.e. still experiencing discomfort – the employee will notify their district contact to request an on-site ergonomic evaluation. The district contact can then follow the protocol below on how to request an on-site ergonomic evaluation. Please note, this process does not apply to those who are in need of a claim-related ergonomic evaluation.
